Basic information

Chemical properties: Colorless to pale yellow liquid, with a strong acetic acid odor, sour taste, and sensitive to moisture. It dissolves in chloroform and ether, slowly dissolves in water and decomposes into acetic acid, and reacts with ethanol to form ethyl acetate. pH 3(10g/L,H2O,20℃). Melting point -73℃. Boiling point: 136-142℃/760mmHg. Density ρ(20)1.082-1.087g/mL. Refractive index n20/D1.390. Flash point: 120.2℉/49℃.

Usage: Used as a reagent for acetylation in analysis; Determine the moisture content in acetic acid, cotton and starch; Test alcohols, aromatic primary amines and secondary amines; Determine the total cholesterol in the serum; Dehydrating agents in chemical synthesis (sulfonation, nitrification); Manufacture acetate esters and acetyl compounds; Synthetic drugs and dyes.
