Chemical properties: Colorless to pale yellow liquid with a slight aromatic odor. It is miscible with alcohol and ether, soluble in organic solvents such as chloroform, benzene, toluene and propylene glycol, insoluble in water and glycerol, and slightly soluble in water. Melting point -50℃. Boiling point: 199℃/760mmHg. Density ρ(20)1.053-1.067g/mL. Refractive index n20/D1.412-1.416. Viscosity: 2.14mPa·s(at 10℃). Flash point: 194℉/90℃.

Purpose: To verify ammonia and potassium; Gas chromatography stationary liquid (maximum operating temperature 40℃, solvents are benzene, chloroform, ethanol); Solvents for resins and nitrocellulose; Plasticizer; Food additives; Chemical synthesis.
