Basic information

Chemical properties: Colorless to pale yellow liquid, with a smell similar to ether, and highly hygroscopic. When burning, it emits a bright flame and can dissolve some inorganic salts, such as silver nitrate, lithium nitrate and magnesium bromide, etc. It can form an azeotropic mixture with water (containing 16% water), with an azeotropic point of 76℃. It is miscible with water, ether, methanol, acetone, chloroform, carbon tetrachloride, vinyl chloride, methyl acetate, ethyl acetate, acetamide solution and many unsaturated hydrocarbons, but not miscible with saturated hydrocarbons. Melting point -48℃. Boiling point: 80-82℃/760mmHg. Density ρ(20) : 0.780-0.785g/mL. Refractive index n20/D1.343-1.346. Viscosity: 0.39mPa·s(at 20℃). Flash point: 35.6℉/2℃.

Usage: Analytical chemistry: Solvent for most inorganic compounds; Spectrophotometric determination and non-aqueous titration solvents; Used as a diluent when determining carboxyl groups; Recrystallization of steroid compounds Extraction of fatty acids High performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) solvent.

Storage: Room temperature

Hazard Declaration: Highly flammable, harmful, eye irritating.

Preventive Statement: Keep away from heat sources/hot surfaces/sparks/open flames/other ignition sources. Use explosion-proof equipment. Anti-static. Avoid inhalation. Wear protective clothing/protective gloves/protective goggles/protective masks. Fire extinguishing: dry powder, carbon dioxide, sand. Avoid prohibited foods.
